Course Structure
The course
runs over the four school terms for one year every Thursday from 9:30 am to 2:00
pm. The main emphasis of the course is the more
practical based hands on involvement in learning areas such as horticulture,
animal husbandry and native bush regeneration. The course is structured so that
each term focuses on a particular theme whereby activities and theory relating
to each theme are interwoven into the practical farm work. That said, a number
of activities will be directly related to operational requirements of the school
farm and influenced by seasonal fluctuations.
The day
program starts at 9:30 and runs through to 2:00 in the afternoon with flexible
arrival and pick up times on either end. The day is broken up into three
sessions with a maximum length of 1 ½ hours to give students the opportunity to
develop a work rhythm and complete necessary tasks, without being overtaxing.
