Somerville School Farm
 2006
has seen the exciting
launch of the Somerville School Farm and with this the opportunity for you to
let your 9 to 12 year old children participate in a dynamic learning
environment where motor skills, social skills, emotional skills and cognitive
skills are developed through interaction and emotional engagement with the
natural environment.
Where is
it and what is it all about?
The
Somerville School Farm is located 50 minutes from the centre of Perth in the
hills of the Darling Range near the town of Chidlow. It is integrated into the
property of the Somerville Ecovillage, which makes it an exciting and unique
learning place. The school farm’s major contribution
to education can be seen in the realms of social learning, environmental
education and first hand practical experiences. Through their multi-dimensional
and project orientated nature, the school farm activities touch on many learning
outcomes of the school curriculum.
