Economic Strategy

Our economic model is well underway and is all about supporting community members to concentrate on what they are passionate about, while enabling them to generate an income.

Collaboration and cooperation are key aspects of the economic model.

The SomerVille Business Directory has arrived.

Let me know if you would like your business listed here - including any current promotions or news.

To prevent economic leakage from the community, the majority of interest payments and fees incurred have been, and will be paid, to community members.

Redirecting where we already spend money provides business opportunities for community members. Examples include telephone and internet services, insurance, food, transport, power, loans and other services.

The SomerVille project will provide funds to support the evolution of enterprise.

Some of the surplus funds from lot sales will be invested in community facilities and the establishment of a business incubation unit to help kick start village based enterprises.

Leading edge technology infrastructure is envisaged to support both village and home based business enterprises.

By creating jobs and businesses before people move to SomerVille , transition for people will be simplified.

Chidlow is close to regional centres such as Mundaring (15 minutes), Midland (30 minutes) and Perth (45 minutes).
