The Three
Pillars and the SEH Board
We would like
to encourage members of the community to commence dialogue with these
groups about topics and within areas that you are passionate about. You
can do this by sending an email to the first point of contact in that
group.
The first point of contact within a Pillar group is
called the Touchstone.
We have also
created the role of Weaver as a first point of call for any questions,
feedback or information you may have. As there are now a variety of
groups and people it may be confusing exactly who it is you need to
speak too, the Weaver is perfect for those situations. The Weaver will
be able to direct you to the right person or find out the information
you need and get back to you. The current Weaver is Fuchsia who can be
contacted at the Greenedge Office, Monday to Friday, on 9572 3672. She
is ready and waiting for your call! (or email –
fuchsia(at)greenedge.org)
Additionally
in order to expand the community interface we wish to invite community
members (“intending residents”) to attend the pillar meetings as
observers. The time and dates of the pillar meetings are outlined on our
calendar.
We will also email you in advance if we have your email address.
Additional to
the Pillar meetings community members are invited to attend SEH board
meetings as an observer details are outlined below.

SEED
SomerVille Ecovillage Enterprise Development
This
group is all about connecting peoples passions with income and
supporting community members from establishing ways to generate income
from within Somerville. Both from a sutainability point of view and that
of quality of life it has clearly been identified
that working locally, from those that choose to, is an important part of
what Somerville is all about.
There are two key areas
of operation that this group will operate within:
Establishment of
Enterprise
-
As outlined in this
plan there exist key enterprises which will need to be established
at required timings. This group is responsible for ensuring that
these enterprises are established on behalf of the community in the
sequence and timings required. This will involve but not be limited
to market research, feasibility studies, business planning, forming
partnership/alliances, funding and finance, recruitment, and
provision of professional services. These enterprises will initially
be community owned enterprises that may have third party involvement
of some stage. This function is clearly one of creating enterprises
as distinct from facilitating the creation of enterprises.
Facilitation Support for
Enterprises
-
This is a support
role for members of the community that are looking at establishing
enterprises at SomerVille. This is primarily based on assisting
other members of the community taking their passions through to
income producing enterprises. This support and facilitation may
include but not be limited to advice, networking, planning, finance,
funding, resources and start up services.
This is a crucial process as all other in ensuring that SomerVille
is able to provide for us as a community what we require not only
with regards to products and services but also the opportunity to
earn an income within the village.
